The Maya Train has covered an impressive 746,379.7 kilometers from December 16, 2023, to August 14, 2024. This distance is equivalent to making 171 trips from Cancún to Tijuana. This information was provided by the director of the Maya Train, General Óscar Lozano Águila, during a morning press conference with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Currently, there are 24 operational Maya Train stations. These stations span a total distance of 904 kilometers across the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
From its operation period of December 16, 2023, to August 14, 2024 – a total of 239 days, the Maya Train has served 340,622 passengers. Of these passengers, 248,700 purchased their tickets at ticket windows, while the remaining 91,922 bought their tickets online. The passenger breakdown includes 63,288 special passengers, 90,734 locals, 168,464 nationals, and 18,139 internationals. In addition, the train transported 22,764 children and 317,858 adults.
The station at Cancún Airport recorded the highest passenger mobility, with a total of 86,401 passengers. This was closely followed by the Mérida Teya station, which served 75,486 passengers. Other stations with significant passenger numbers include San Francisco de Campeche with 34,481 passengers, Playa del Carmen with 31,896 passengers, Valladolid with 27,251 passengers, Palenque with 18,607 passengers, and Izamal with 17,282 passengers. These five stations alone accounted for the sale of 274,122 tickets.
