Three individuals were apprehended on Saturday, December 28, in Costa Mujeres, following a joint operation by multiple government security agencies. They are suspected of involvement in an armed assault on a street vendor in the beach area of Costa Mujeres's mainland zone.

The incident took place around 1 p.m., prompting immediate response from authorities and emergency services due to reports of gunshots in the area. The victim, who was shot in the leg and abdomen, was rushed to the general hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

According to the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the suspects were found near the same beach where the attack occurred. At the time of their arrest, they were found to be in possession of illegal substances, which have been seized as evidence.

The suspects are set to be handed over to the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), where an investigation will be conducted to establish their involvement in the attack. The identities of the arrested individuals have not yet been released.

Reports suggest that the attack took place when the street vendor was shot at on the beach near the Grand Palladium Hotel. Initially, there were fears that the victim had been killed, but authorities confirmed on arrival that he was still alive.

Paramedics from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squadron (ERUM) provided immediate care and transported the victim to the hospital. Meanwhile, security forces secured the area to conduct preliminary investigations. The operation concluded with the arrest of the three suspects.
