TOURISTS INJURED IN SHOCKING FLOOR COLLAPSE AT DOLPHIN PARK

A section of the wooden floor at the Dolphin Discovery park in Isla Mujeres gave way, causing approximately eight people to fall. The incident occurred in the park's restaurant area, located on Sac-Bajo road.

Three individuals were transported to the Isla Mujeres Integral Hospital following the collapse. They had sustained injuries when the floor could not support the weight of the park's visitors. The park's management attempted to handle the incident internally, presumably to avoid penalties from local authorities. The accident was reported around 5:00 p.m. yesterday.

Approximately eight people were on the scene when the floor gave way. Park staff immediately came to their aid. However, due to the potential for fractures, a medical unit was called via the 911 emergency number. Paramedics from the Red Cross, Civil Protection, and local municipal authorities arrived to assist.

The injured visitors were assessed on the scene, but only three needed to be taken to the Integral Hospital. This was done to rule out the possibility of broken bones or other serious injuries that could potentially be life-threatening.

Authorities believe that the collapse may have been due to a lack of maintenance. It appears that one of the posts supporting the floor could not bear the weight of the people and gave way. Civil Protection intervened to secure the area. However, it remains unclear whether there will be any fines or if the rest of the park's facilities are safe for visitors.
