The Solidaridad Municipality is aiming to secure a collaboration agreement with the Maya Train project to make Playa del Carmen a required stop on the route. The city council is currently exploring the feasibility of incorporating the coastal city into the Maya Train's itinerary by next year.
Daniel Bellamy Garcia, the Director of Promotional Tourism Marketing of Solidaridad, believes that such an agreement could boost the city's brand and diversify its tourism offerings. The objective is to make the Playa del Carmen station a mandatory stop on the Maya Train route. Garcia explained, "We aim to encourage Maya Train passengers to stop at Playa del Carmen. This would not only promote our beautiful beaches but also introduce new routes and tourist attractions that showcase the cultural, gastronomic, and natural wealth of our municipality."
The vision is for the Playa del Carmen station to become a compulsory stop for tourists by the start of 2025. This agreement would enable the municipality to leverage the visibility and reach of the Maya Train, positioning Playa del Carmen as a strategic destination within the project's routes, which connect various regions in southeast Mexico.
This strategy aligns with the municipal government's efforts to attract new markets and diversify the experiences offered to visitors. The goal is to establish Playa del Carmen as a comprehensive destination that offers more than just beautiful beaches, by promoting its vibrant culture and rich heritage.
