An intense police operation was initiated in the hotel zone of Cancún when a tourist reported being threatened with a gun. The incident took place near the Calinda Viva bridge on Kukulcán Boulevard, at kilometer 4. Officers from the Benito Juárez Municipal Citizen Security and Traffic Secretariat, along with federal forces, were quickly dispatched in response to the emergency.

Initial reports suggest that the incident occurred as a result of an argument between the tourist and another individual. The disagreement escalated when the individual brandished a firearm. Recognizing the danger, the tourist was able to contact 911, triggering a security operation to find the armed individual. The search focused on the area between kilometers 2.5 and 4 of Kukulcán Boulevard, but the individual managed to escape.

The police response caused significant traffic congestion in the hotel zone, affecting the area from kilometer 1.5 to kilometer 7. This incident has underscored the security issues in the area, despite the presence of the Tourist Police. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the individual responsible. Meanwhile, those in the tourism industry are voicing concerns about increasing insecurity in the area.
