A trailer carrying a heavy load of pine wood overturned on Federal Highway 307, causing traffic disruptions. The incident occurred near the boundary between the municipalities of Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
The driver of the trailer, heading northbound, reportedly dozed off momentarily at the wheel. This lapse in attention, combined with the heavy load, led to the loss of control and subsequent overturning of the vehicle.
Despite the driver's efforts to maintain his lane, the weight of the load made it impossible to prevent the accident. The overturned trailer blocked the flow of traffic from the south to the north on the highway.
Following the accident, the National Guard Division Highways stepped in to manage the situation. A crane was deployed to clear the obstructed traffic lanes and restore normal traffic flow.
The driver of the trailer was transported to a hospital for specialized medical treatment.
