The Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport in Tulum is bustling with activity, handling up to 5,800 passengers per day during the peak winter season. This is thanks to the four national and twelve international airlines that have been operating at the airport for over a year.

The airport initially projected to serve 700,000 passengers in its first year. However, it surpassed this figure within the first seven months of 2024. "We had projected 700,000 passengers this year, but with the flights we currently have, we will serve more than 1.2 million passengers. We expect further growth next year as new airlines begin operations and existing ones expand their routes to this airport," said the director of the air terminal.

In its first year, the airport has opened 97 commercial spaces for the public. Efforts are underway to bring in new transport companies to provide services at lower costs than some tourist transport companies currently offer.

Just three days before the end of 2024, Tulum Airport continues to expand its reach. Most recently, it welcomed the exclusive service of Qatar Executive from Qatar Airways, which offers private flights from London.

Governor Mara Lezama praised the airport's continued growth, saying, "The central and southern area of Quintana Roo continues to establish itself as a world-class destination, attracting more visitors and offering unique experiences that promote wellness and development."
