Grupo Piñero, in recent partnership with Hyatt, has announced an innovative new project. They plan to transform 360 rooms at the Bahía Príncipe Grand Coba in Akumal, near Tulum, into an adults-only hotel. This large family complex currently houses over 1,000 rooms. The new venture will be known as the Bahía Príncipe Grand Tequila.

Julio Pérez, CEO of the new Hyatt and Bahía Príncipe alliance, confirmed the plans. He also revealed an upcoming project in Jamaica, which will involve the construction of a 350-room hotel. This will require an investment of 100 million euros and will be located within one of their existing complexes. The new hotel will be a Luxury brand Bahía Príncipe, managed by a new team.

This partnership also includes an investment plan to renovate 40% of the Bahía Príncipe hotels. Pérez explained that the remaining 60% of the hotels are already updated. The renovation plan will see an investment of 124 million euros this year, with an approximate 100 million euros planned for each of the following years, 2026 and 2027.

Hyatt's 51 million loyal customers will provide a growth opportunity with American tourists, who already make up 25% of their Caribbean hotel guests. Pérez noted that American tourists account for half of the arrivals in the region, and their share is half of that.

Pérez also highlighted their expansion plans, stating, "We now have 22 hotels, but we believe there is room to put the Bahía Príncipe brand throughout the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Caribbean". He added that they are looking to incorporate third-party hotels, particularly those owned by family groups similar to Piñero, who share their values and strategies, and who see Bahía Príncipe as the ideal partner.
