A couple vacationing in Tulum, Sinaloa, recently shared their experience of a violent attack and robbery at the Obsidiana bar. The incident took place on February 17th and was made public by María Fernanda Peimbert on social media, where she detailed the assault and shared images of their injuries.

Peimbert and her boyfriend had visited the bar after a day at the beach. Upon their arrival, her boyfriend was stopped at the entrance by the bar's staff for carrying a backpack. Despite being warned, he briefly entered the bar to inform Peimbert that they couldn't stay, and was then attacked from behind by a group of four to six people, allegedly bar employees. Peimbert described how they knocked him to the ground, brutally beat him, and threatened his life.

When Peimbert tried to intervene, she was also attacked, receiving a blow to the face and being forcefully held and pushed down the stairs. The couple was then subdued and robbed of their possessions, including cell phones, watches, necklaces, a cap, and glasses.

After the incident, the couple tried to contact the bar via Instagram to recover their belongings, but their messages were ignored and later deleted. Peimbert shared on social media that they were left with bruises and injuries, with her boyfriend unable to move due to chest pain from the beating.

Neither the bar nor local authorities have released an official statement about the incident. Despite fearing retaliation, the couple decided to share their story to warn others about the potential dangers at the bar. They have also stated their intention to file a formal complaint with the authorities. As the story unfolds, both tourists and locals are calling for justice and increased safety measures at Tulum's entertainment venues.
