The Akumal Ecological Center (CEA) and the Boston’s Pizza Foundation have partnered to raise funds for the restoration of Tulum's coral reefs. These reefs are a crucial part of the region's ecosystem, providing a habitat for marine biodiversity and protecting the coastline. However, they face significant threats from climate change, pollution, and human activity.

To combat this, the fundraising campaign aims to raise awareness and funds to support the CEA's reef restoration program. The campaign offers two main ways to contribute. First, supporters can purchase printed hearts for 20 pesos, symbolizing their commitment to preserving the reefs. Second, Boston’s Pizza will donate 20 pesos for every heart-shaped pizza sold on February 14 and 15, further contributing to the project's funds.

The campaign's initial goal is to raise 30,000 pesos. These funds will directly support the reef restoration program, which includes activities such as replanting corals, monitoring their growth, and educating the local community and visitors about the reefs.

The CEA stresses the importance of this campaign in ensuring the health and sustainability of the reefs. The reefs not only provide a vital habitat for marine life but also serve as a tourist attraction and a natural barrier against severe weather conditions.

Through initiatives like this, the CEA hopes to encourage more community and business involvement in environmental conservation. They emphasize that protecting ecosystems is a shared responsibility, not just the duty of organizations.

To contribute to this cause, visit Boston’s Pizza on the specified dates or contact the Akumal Ecological Center to purchase the printed hearts. Even small actions can make a significant difference in protecting Tulum's reefs.
