A couple from Mexico City were taken into custody yesterday in Tulum, accused of theft and tampering with ATM machines. They were reported for exhibiting suspicious behavior within an ATM area.

The Public Security and Civil Protection Department of Tulum were alerted to the situation via a 911 emergency call. The call described a man and a woman interfering with the functioning of an ATM.

Upon arrival, officers conducted a physical check and requested identification from the couple. Information about the individuals was found on the Mexico Platform, a national database. Both individuals, originally from Mexico City, have previous criminal records for similar ATM tampering offenses in the capital.

As a result, the couple, identified as Luis Alberto "N" and Martha Patricia "N", were detained and transferred to the State Attorney General's Office. Their legal status is currently being determined.
