Tulum has seen an average hotel occupancy of 77.1% from December 1 to 9, demonstrating strong tourist activity ahead of the holiday season. The Tourism Committee, under the leadership of Eleazar Mas Kinil, reported this data. The Akumal All-Inclusive area was particularly popular, boasting an occupancy rate of 87.2%. This micro-destination, which offers a blend of luxury, nature, and comfort, was a clear favorite among visitors.

Other areas that saw considerable tourist activity include the Jaguar National Park with 66.5% occupancy, Tulum Centro at 61.4%, the Hotel Zone at 59.6%, and the Akumal-Chemuyil-Tankah microdestination at 29.6%. In light of these positive numbers, Eleazar Mas Kinil emphasized the municipal government's commitment to ensuring a safe and high-quality tourist experience. The government plans to meet service demands and strengthen measures to maintain order, security, and visitor satisfaction.

As the holiday season approaches, occupancy rates are expected to reach 100% in the coming days due to rising demand and bookings. Tulum's success as a tourist destination can be attributed to its diverse offerings, ranging from all-inclusive options in Akumal to ecotourism and boutique experiences in the Hotel Zone and Jaguar National Park. The growth in community tourism, improved infrastructure, and international promotion have established Tulum as a leading destination in Quintana Roo.

However, this growth also presents challenges, such as the need to bolster public services, preserve natural areas, and enhance mobility, especially in the most crowded areas. Local authorities have urged service providers and hotel owners to step up their efforts to provide a memorable experience for visitors, encouraging them to spread the word about Tulum as a unique global destination. The upcoming holiday season not only promises a positive end to the year for the sector, but also an opportunity to further enhance Tulum's reputation as a sustainable and competitive player in the global tourism market.
