The valiant firefighters and Civil Protection team in Tulum have been tirelessly battling a forest fire near the Marites neighborhood for the past four days. The fire, which has consumed roughly 2 hectares of low jungle and undergrowth, is expected to be under control by this afternoon.
The Director of Firefighters in Tulum has requested patience from local residents, as they anticipate it will take at least another week to fully extinguish the fire and cool the area.
Yesterday, heavy machinery was deployed to create a firebreak. This strategic move is designed to help control the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
