The Tulum City Council is encouraging residents to take steps to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is known to transmit dengue. This particular species of mosquito can breed in a variety of containers that hold water, such as pots, buckets, tanks, bathtubs, barrels, puddles, vases, sinks, and fountains.
To prevent these insects from breeding, it is recommended that any objects capable of holding water are either removed or covered, as these can become ideal breeding grounds for the mosquitoes. It is important to remember to wash, cover, overturn, or discard items that can collect water. Keeping your home clean and free from potential breeding sites is key in preventing the spread of these mosquitoes.
