Restaurant workers in Tulum have raised concerns over unpaid wages, warning fellow employees about business owners who allegedly neglect their employment obligations. Among those affected is a former employee of a beachfront establishment that has operated under various names, including Lemba, La Sundanguera, IT, and previously Zamna on the Beach.

The individual, who served as a floor supervisor, stated that he was employed from early December until January 26. During this period, he was informed that the restaurant would no longer operate under the IT brand and its reopening would be delayed. Despite working this entire period, he did not receive his salary. He claims he is owed 30,000 pesos and believes other employees are experiencing the same issue, although they have chosen not to publicly voice their complaints due to fear of retaliation.

This situation has sparked worry among restaurant workers, who fear this issue could occur in other establishments. As of now, the accused business owners have not provided an official response. Meanwhile, the affected employees are exploring legal options to demand the payment they are owed.
