Tulum is gearing up to host the third edition of BioFeria, the largest sustainability festival in Latin America, from March 8 to 16 at the Municipal Esplanade. This nine-day event will bring together entrepreneurs, business owners, environmental organizations, and local residents to promote concrete actions for sustainability and environmental care.
A Festival for Action and Awareness
BioFeria 2025 is designed to not only educate but also to inspire real change. The festival will feature over 40 impact initiatives, showcasing solutions for waste management, conservation, and sustainable living. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in workshops, talks, and interactive exhibits focused on topics like the circular economy, waste reduction, and eco-friendly alternatives for daily life. Activities will be tailored for all ages, including educational games for children to help instill environmental awareness from an early age.
Art with a Purpose
One of the festival’s highlights will be a stunning exhibition of sculptures made from waste collected from Tulum’s beaches and streets. These unique pieces, created by local artisans and international artists, aim to highlight the severity of plastic pollution. According to Alonso Escudero, a member of the BioFeria Council, many plastics found in Tulum have labels in different languages, underscoring that marine pollution knows no borders.
To further raise awareness, the festival will also feature a PET labyrinth, a symbolic installation demonstrating how despite environmental challenges, solutions and pathways to sustainability exist.

Hands-On Conservation Efforts
Beyond exhibits and workshops, BioFeria 2025 will have a strong focus on community engagement. Attendees will be encouraged to participate in cenote and beach clean-ups, helping to transform Tulum’s natural spaces while learning about the importance of waste separation and responsible disposal. Tourists, locals, and business owners are invited to take part, reinforcing the idea that sustainability is a collective responsibility.
A Call to Action
Despite growing environmental awareness, waste management remains a significant challenge in Tulum. Many people still lack knowledge about proper waste separation, and trash accumulation continues to threaten the region’s delicate ecosystem. “Picking up litter is often seen as a punishment when, in reality, it’s an opportunity to serve nature,” said Escudero, emphasizing the need for a cultural shift toward active environmental stewardship.
Among the most common pollutants found on Tulum’s beaches are PET bottles, Styrofoam, flip-flops, plastic bags, and construction debris. BioFeria 2025 aims to showcase practical and scalable solutions to address these issues, demonstrating that real change is possible through education and collective action.
Join the Movement
BioFeria 2025 is more than just a festival—it’s a platform for real solutions. Organizers are calling on local businesses, hoteliers, restaurateurs, and visitors to participate and support the movement toward a cleaner, more sustainable Tulum. “Now is the time to act,” Escudero stressed. “This festival isn’t just about discussing problems—it’s about showcasing solutions and taking real steps toward change.”
With this event, Tulum reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, setting an example for other regions in Latin America and beyond. Organizers hope that widespread participation will inspire individuals and communities to adopt more eco-friendly habits, ultimately contributing to a healthier planet. Join the movement at BioFeria 2025 and be part of the solution toward a more sustainable future!
