Two bloggers, Niko and Reily, were violently attacked while conducting their journalistic duties in the Valle Verde neighborhood of Cancún. The pair, who contribute to news sites in Cancún and Playa del Carmen, were targeted while live-streaming on Facebook. The attack nearly claimed one of their lives, highlighting the dangers that journalists face in this region.

The bloggers were investigating a report about armed individuals in the area. As they were leaving, they noticed they were being followed and promptly called for police assistance. Before the police could arrive, Niko was confronted by the assailants who stole his motorcycle, cell phone, and personal belongings.

Niko reported that the attackers fired their weapons just as a police officer was arriving at the scene. The officer immediately called for backup upon hearing the gunshots, sparking a manhunt for the culprits. A stolen motorcycle was discovered at the scene of the crime.
