Two police officers in Cancún have been arrested on charges of sexual abuse and covering up the crime. The incident, involving a Colombian national, occurred in October this year.

The arrests were carried out by officers from the Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo, in partnership with the Internal Affairs unit of the Municipal Citizen Security Secretariat. The two municipal officers, identified as Saúl Vladimir "N" and Alfredo "N", are suspected of committing sexual abuse and cover-up crimes.

The Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Combating Sexual Crimes and Free Personality Development initiated the investigation. The alleged incident took place on October 12th on the streets of Supermanzana 63 in Cancún.

Initial investigations suggest that the officers arrested the victim under the pretense of her having committed illegal acts. They then transported her to an undisclosed location. It's alleged that Saúl Vladimir "N" conducted a supposed routine inspection and committed the sexual abuse, promising to help the victim avoid jail time.

Following the investigation, the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) obtained arrest warrants from a judge for Saúl Vladimir "N", charged with sexual abuse, and Alfredo "N", charged with cover-up. The warrants were executed and both suspects were detained.

After the necessary procedures, both detainees were handed over to the judicial authority in Cancún. Their legal status will be determined within the constitutional timeframe.
