Diego Castañón Trejo, the Mayor of Tulum, recently opened two new parks in the Ya’ax Tulum and Xul-Há neighborhoods. These new recreational spaces, which will benefit over 46,000 residents in the southern part of the city, were funded by a total investment of 5.3 million pesos.

The grand opening ceremony took place on Friday, December 20 in the Ya’ax Tulum neighborhood. Mayor Castañón Trejo was joined by councilors, area directors, and local residents. The new park in this neighborhood was built with an investment of approximately 2.9 million pesos. It is designed to provide a place for residents to enjoy leisure and recreational activities.

The Xul-Há neighborhood also saw the inauguration of a new park, which was funded by an investment of 2.4 million pesos. Both parks were developed in response to requests from residents for quality spaces where local families can relax and enjoy themselves.

In his address, Mayor Castañón Trejo emphasized that these parks are not just empty promises, but tangible results of his administration's efforts. He stressed the importance of staying in touch with citizens to understand their needs.

He said, "This is the result of walking the streets, because that's what we need to do, be closer to the people. Being in offices is no longer useful, now we need to listen to the people."

The Mayor also highlighted the importance of engaging with the community for effective governance. He expressed that these projects aim not only to improve urban infrastructure, but also to provide Tulum families with suitable recreational spaces and strengthen the social fabric in these key neighborhoods.
