In a recent incident at the Maya Train project site, two workers were injured when a metal column collapsed. The accident occurred in the "Rolling Jaguar" section, located near the Xul-ha community in Othon P. Blanco, Quintana Roo.
The incident happened at around 6:30 PM on Monday. The workers were in the process of assembling the metal columns when one of them began to creak. Shortly after, the column collapsed, injuring two of the workers. One of the workers was severely injured as the structure fell on his legs. The current health status of the injured workers remains unknown.
As of now, neither the leadership of the Maya Train project nor government authorities have issued a statement regarding the incident. This accident marks the third such incident in 2024, and the second in less than a month.
In related news, unusual rainfall in Yucatan has caused damage to a newly constructed bridge that is part of the Maya Train project. The bridge, located in the municipality of Maxcanú, is approximately 50 kilometers from the city of Mérida.
