Carlos Alberto “N”, a student at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico ( UAEMex ), was found dead in Playa del Carmen , Quintana Roo, after having been reported missing on Saturday in Toluca.
The 24-year-old was last seen in an establishment in the La Merced neighborhood, in the capital of Mexico. Since then, his family has been unaware of his whereabouts .
Three days later, her body appeared floating in the sea on Calle 6 beach in Playa del Carmen, where tourists notified lifeguards and authorities.
According to initial reports, the discovery occurred on Monday afternoon. Witnesses said the young man had been swept away by the current and that, despite his apparent attempt to return to shore, he was unable to get out of the water .
Elements of the Ministerial Police and experts from the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo carried out the removal of the body and its transfer to the Forensic Medical Service ( SEMEFO ).
A university ID card in the name of Carlos Alberto “N” was found at the scene, leading authorities to assume that he was the student who disappeared in Toluca. His identity was later confirmed through the corresponding forensic protocols.
It is not yet known how the young man arrived in Quintana Roo and whether his death is related to any incident prior to his disappearance .
The Mexican State Attorney General’s Office has not released information on whether there were indications that Carlos Alberto had planned to travel or whether any formal complaint had been filed before he was found.
Meanwhile, authorities in Quintana Roo and the State of Mexico have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s disappearance and death.
Although the main hypothesis points to an accidental
drowning , other lines of investigation have not been ruled out.
