Three US Senators have issued a stern warning to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. They caution that if the Mexican government seizes land and a maritime terminal in Quintana Roo, owned by American firm Vulcan Materials (Calica), they will take steps to ensure no other party can benefit from such action.
The Senators, from both the Republican and Democratic parties, expressed their disapproval in a letter sent to Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena. They criticized the Mexican government's intention to declare the limestone quarry of the Sac-Tun company (also known as Calica) and the Puerto Venado maritime terminal as a Protected Natural Area.
