Venezuelans in Cancún have staged a protest against Nicolás Maduro, the President of Venezuela.

The protest coincides with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone. The storm has left a trail of devastation across five southeastern states in the United States, causing over 50 fatalities.

The hurricane made landfall in Florida as a category 4 storm on Thursday night. The death toll currently stands at 19 in South Carolina, 17 in Georgia, 11 in Florida, six in North Carolina, and one in Virginia.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities working tirelessly to aid survivors and restore affected areas. These regions have suffered from dangerous flooding and surging rivers due to heavy rainfall, hurricane winds, and tornadoes.

The Weather Prediction Center anticipates that Helene will continue to weaken and dissipate by Monday. However, there is still a risk of heavy rainfall in the Ohio area and the Tennessee valleys, potentially reaching the Appalachian mountains on Sunday.

The National Hurricane Center issued a warning on Saturday about record floods in the southern Appalachian Mountains. They also cautioned about the risk of fallen power poles and potential prolonged power outages in some areas.

As of the latest update, Helene was nearing Nashville, Tennessee, and Louisville, Kentucky, with significantly reduced wind speeds of 30 kilometers per hour.
