On the evening of May 9, 2024, a wildfire broke out at Telchac Port, Yucatan, resulting in the destruction of five boats. Firefighters from the local Public Security Department were quick to respond, managing to control the blaze within a few hours.

Investigations into the incident suggest that the fire was sparked by individuals burning trash near the port. The intense heat had dried out the surrounding grass, creating a perfect environment for the fire to spread. Unfortunately, those responsible did not take the necessary precautions to prevent the fire from getting out of control.

The fire quickly reached the area where the boats were moored. Local fishermen and bystanders attempted to control the situation and called for help. Thankfully, no casualties were reported from the incident, though the damage to the boats was substantial.
