A woman was left trapped in her vehicle following a severe accident on the Tulum-Playa del Carmen section of Federal Highway 307. Emergency services responded quickly to assist her. This incident is the latest in a series of accidents on Federal Highway 307, which recently saw fatalities involving a woman from Argentina and a local taxi driver.
The Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Fire Brigade Department of Solidaridad reported that the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17th.
Employees of the Sirenis hotel, situated along the Tulum-Playa del Carmen highway, informed authorities of the severe accident which had damaged an external fence of their property. Responders arrived at the scene to find a Ford Focus overturned in the brush, with a woman trapped inside due to the force of the collision. The department commended their team's training, which allowed them to successfully rescue the trapped individual.
Emergency units from the Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Fire Brigade arrived at kilometer 256, where they immediately initiated rescue operations. They were able to free the woman, who was trapped in the Ford Focus, and provided her with immediate first aid. She was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment, the agency added.
The cause of the accident, which left the woman trapped on the Tulum-Playa del Carmen route near the Sirenis hotel, is currently unknown.
Federal Highway 307, especially the stretch from Cancun to Tulum via Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos, has seen multiple incidents in recent days.
