During the Half Marathon 21k in Tulum, a woman was struck by a state patrol car. The incident occurred shortly after the official start of the race. The woman, a teacher, was spectating the event when the patrol car, which was there for surveillance and safety purposes, accidentally hit her.
The patrol car, with the license plate TR-598A-8, is owned by the State Citizen Security Secretariat. The officer driving the car momentarily lost focus, leading to the unfortunate accident. Thankfully, the woman's injuries were not severe, and she received immediate attention from emergency services.
The 21-kilometer race awards prizes to the top three finishers in each category. In the 5-kilometer race, only the overall top three finishers receive awards. Additionally, a special prize of $25,000 pesos is given to the first man and woman to cross the finish line.
