The remains of a woman were discovered in a decomposed state in the Tres Reyes district of Cancún. The disturbing find has prompted a call to action from local officials.
Gustavo Hernández Fernández, the Director of Regulatory Compliance for the Municipality of Benito Juárez, has clarified that the sale of alcohol beyond the prescribed hours is no longer a matter for municipal governments. Instead, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of Finance and Planning (Sefiplan).
Regulatory inspectors can only forward complaints when they notice such violations. Fernández has encouraged citizens to report any breaches so that the proper authorities can take action.
The municipality plays a role in extending operating hours, generating an average of 3 million pesos from these permits.
