Tragedy Strikes at Mayakoba Resort Explosion: Worker Fatality

The explosion that took place on Monday afternoon at the Mayakoba resort in Playa del Carmen has resulted in its first fatality. The victim, known as Bersaín “N”, was one of five workers severely injured in the blast, which was caused by a build-up of gas.

Bersaín “N” passed away at IMSS Hospital 18 in Playa del Carmen, shortly after 5:00 AM on Tuesday. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the severe burns he suffered in the explosion ultimately led to his death. His passing was officially recorded in report 66689 of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo.

Emergency services, including Civil Protection and firefighters from the county of Solidaridad, were quick to respond to the incident. Upon arrival, they discovered five injured individuals, three of whom were in critical condition. The victims were immediately transported to IMSS Hospital due to the life-threatening nature of their injuries.

As of now, there has been no further information released about the condition of the other four survivors of the explosion. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the accident and assess its impact on the staff involved.
