Xcaret Group Raises Ferry Rates: Ultramar Suspends Services

Xcaret's maritime division, Xailing, has slightly raised its fares. In the meantime, Ultramar has announced a temporary suspension of services from midday Thursday until Saturday due to the anticipated impact of Hurricane Beryl.

Ultramar has warned of a possible halt to the Playa del Carmen-Cozumel crossing on Thursday, April 4, with services expected to resume on the morning of Saturday, April 6. The Cancun-Isla Mujeres route will continue to operate as per its regular schedule until Thursday.

Meanwhile, Xailing has adjusted its fares for passengers traveling between Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel. The company, which is part of the Xcaret tourism conglomerate, has increased the local fare to 90 pesos for a one-way trip (180 pesos for a round trip). The fare for children has been raised to 60 pesos (120 pesos for a round trip).

Ultramar currently offers the most expensive tickets for the Playa del Carmen-Cozumel crossing, with its Ultraplan priced at 100 pesos for adults (200 pesos for a round trip) and 65 pesos for minors (130 pesos for a round trip).

On the other hand, the shipping company Winjet offers the cheapest local rate: 80 pesos for a single adult ticket (160 pesos for a round trip), and 50 pesos for children (100 pesos for a round trip). However, passengers have reported negative experiences with Winjet, citing unpleasant diesel fumes inside the boats and a crossing time that exceeds 25 minutes.
