Xcaret Expands: New Hotels, Festivals & Family Fun in Mexico

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The iconic Xcaret park is evolving beyond a traditional tourist destination into a cultural, culinary, and multigenerational epicenter where sustainability, art, and Mexican tradition converge in unprecedented ways.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico Doubles Capacity with $700 Million Expansion

Grupo Xcaret has announced a $700 million expansion of Hotel Xcaret México, the pioneer of the All-Fun Inclusive® concept. The project will increase the property’s capacity from 900 to 1,800 rooms, introducing five themed houses designed to accommodate families of all ages. This expansion is expected to boost employment by 87% compared to 2019 levels, reaching 17,000 employees by mid-2025.

New Experiences for Every Generation

Xcaret has unveiled tailored offerings for all age groups:

  • Xiquit Inn: A miniature world for children aged 5–9 to explore professions and skills.
  • Lunateca: A sensory play area inspired by the legend of the rabbit and the moon, catering to infants and children up to 5 years old.
  • Distrito 1317 and La Paxangería: Spaces for teenagers featuring physical activities and nighttime entertainment.
  • Muluk Family Spa: Wellness experiences for families, accessible to children as young as 6.

Apapaxoa: A Festival Awakening the Senses

From August 25–31, Xcaret will host the Gastro Cultural Festival Apapaxoa, a sensory-driven event featuring over 30 national and international guests. Highlights include exclusive dinners, tastings, forums, and artistic performances, with participation from renowned figures such as Andoni Luis Aduriz, Martha Ortiz, Carlos Gaytán, and Jonatán Gómez Luna.

Celebrating Mexican Folk Art in September

The second edition of the Xcaret Mexican Folk Art Fair will take place September 25–28, showcasing the work of more than 140 artisans from 21 Mexican states. The event, held at the park’s Hacienda Henequenera, will honor ancestral techniques like embroidery, ceramics, and wood carving.

Festival of Life and Death Traditions: Michoacán as Guest of Honor

From October 30 to November 3, Xcaret will present the 19th edition of its Festival of Life and Death Traditions, with Michoacán—renowned for its Day of the Dead celebrations—as the featured state. The festival will blend music, theater, dance, and mysticism, culminating in a performance by Los Ángeles Azules.

Sailing the Caribbean with Xcaret

Two new maritime experiences will debut:

  • Catamarán Prime: A snorkeling tour from Cancún to Isla Mujeres, including access to a private beach club.
  • Catamarán Xunset: A sunset cruise designed for couples, families, and friends seeking memorable moments.

Digital Innovation: Xcaret Enters the Metaverse and Television

Grupo Xcaret is expanding into digital realms with its arrival on Roblox, allowing users to explore its parks in an interactive virtual environment. Additionally, the series Destino Soñado (Dream Destination) will premiere on Max, following celebrities as they discover Xcaret’s magic.

Xel-Há Light: A More Accessible Natural Paradise

The natural park Xel-Há has introduced Xel-Há Light, a budget-friendly option offering access to over 16 attractions for $79.99 USD (adults) and $59.99 USD (children), maintaining the essence of the ecological haven while providing greater flexibility.
