In Cancún, a four-year-old boy was rescued just in time by local authorities before his mother could sell him. The incident occurred in the northwest region of the popular tourist destination, specifically in Supermanzana 100. The authorities were alerted to the situation by a 911 call reporting a woman attempting to sell a child.

Upon reaching the scene, officers from the Specialized Group for Assistance to Victims of Family and Gender Violence (Geavig) were dispatched. They interviewed the individual who made the emergency call. The caller described a scene where a woman, the mother of the young boy, was intoxicated and in the company of a group of men, all consuming alcohol.

Following this, the Geavig officers entered the property, located in block 96 of Supermanzana 100. They found the mother with the young child in a visibly neglected and dilapidated house. The child was discovered lying on a dirty mattress in a house that was in a state of disrepair, with no furniture, damp walls, and rubbish scattered throughout the common areas.

In response to this, the Geavig officials arrested the 29-year-old mother, charging her with negligence and abandonment of her son. Further investigations will be conducted into the child's living conditions, as the caller alleged that the mother had attempted to sell her son while under the influence of alcohol. The child is now under the protection of Geavig to ensure his safety and uphold his best interests.
