In the early hours of Sunday, July 14, residents of the Corales neighborhood in Cancún sprang into action following the abduction of a young girl, aged between 10 and 11. The child was found naked and bound in a densely vegetated area. The kidnapper has reportedly been identified.
The incident took place around 10 am when the man approached the girl's residence in a building on the main street of the Supermanzana 77 neighborhood. The suspect forcibly entered the home and took the girl, placing her in a gray Aveo car before making his escape.
Unbeknownst to the kidnapper, a neighbor's security camera had recorded his actions. Once the neighbor became aware of the incident, they shared the video widely, rallying the community to aid in the girl's rescue.
The video showed a robust man, dressed in gray shorts and a pink polo shirt, removing the child from the building and placing her into a car. Armed with this information, the neighbors called 911 to report the kidnapping.
Responding to the call, the Secretary of Citizen Security and the Navy initiated an operation and began searching the area. Initial reports suggest that the kidnapper, feeling cornered, abandoned the girl in a green area. She was found naked and tied with her hands behind her back.
The suspect was apprehended around 11:00 AM when authorities located the vehicle on 2 South street, between 84 and 2, in the Corales area. The suspect was still in the car. Police quickly blocked the vehicle's path, apprehended the individual, and transported him to the Secretary of Citizen Security. He was then handed over to the Attorney General of the state of Quintana Roo.
A medical unit was dispatched to the scene to provide first aid to the girl. She was later taken to a city hospital for further medical evaluation. Her current health status remains unknown.
Social media posts have identified the alleged kidnapper as a stretcher bearer at the General Hospital of Cancún. However, it is up to the authorities to officially confirm the identity of the man responsible for the abduction. The young girl was found in the same Corales neighborhood from which she was taken.
