In Puerto Morelos, a 22-year-old man named Rodolfo Ernesto Hernández Gamboa has mysteriously disappeared. The incident, which occurred on May 3rd, has raised suspicions of a possible abduction. The state prosecutor's office of Quintana Roo has issued Alert 102/ZN/2024 in response to the event.
Calls for assistance in locating the young man, known by the nicknames "Neto" and "Cochiloko", have been circulating on social media and within the local community. Rodolfo is the son of the late retired police officer Rodolfo Hernández Flores, known as "El popo", who was tragically murdered in December 2020. At the time, he was serving as the assistant to the director of Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion, Ignacio Sánchez Herrera.
This incident is the latest in a series of tragic events that have rocked the community, including the murder of Ignacio Sánchez Cordero, a former mayoral candidate, and his brother in February 2021 and 2022 respectively. Both men were related to the current mayor, Blanca Merari Tziu, as her husband and brother-in-law.
According to the search document issued by the prosecutor's office, Rodolfo was last seen on May 3rd. He was wearing blue denim pants, a green polo shirt and vest bearing the logo of Puerto Morelos Civil Protection, and black boots. Unmarried, Rodolfo was known to participate in cockfights and other activities on his family's ranch in the Agricultural Zone, such as pig and poultry farming and beekeeping. The report also notes that he occasionally worked as operational staff for the city council, driving a private, brown, four-door car without front plates.
