In an effort to bolster security across the state, Yucatan Governor, Joaquín Díaz Mena, has distributed 169 fully equipped patrol cars to the state's 106 municipalities. This move is part of the 'Allies for Life Strategy', aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of local police departments and overall state security.
During the handover ceremony, Governor Díaz Mena emphasized that security is a fundamental component for the state's development. He pledged to continue implementing measures that ensure peace and tranquility across the region. He also expressed his gratitude to the Mexican Government, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, for their support in strengthening security institutions.
The 'Allies for Life Strategy' is not just about enhancing security through equipment, but also through comprehensive strategies, according to Díaz Mena. These include incorporating more psychologists into schools, psychiatrists into hospitals, and providing human rights training for police officers. The strategy also aims to promote sports and culture to deter children and young people from falling into addiction.
Governor Díaz Mena urged mayors to work collaboratively to address security challenges, reminding them of their responsibility to oversee public safety as per Article 115 of the Constitution.
Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, the head of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), emphasized that the new patrol cars will strengthen coordination with municipalities to maintain peace across the state. The handover event was attended by representatives from the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the business sector, local and federal senators, and the 106 mayors of the state.
