“Unprecedented Heatwave Hits Yucatan: Record-Breaking Temperatures”

This Sunday marked the eighth consecutive day of temperatures reaching 40 degrees or more in Merida, matching a record set in June last year. It's expected that this record will be broken on Monday. Meteorologists have warned that the upcoming week will bring extreme heat, the likes of which haven't been seen in at least 50 years.

"We are experiencing unprecedented times with this heat wave," said a representative from the Institutional Committee for the Attention of Meteorological Extreme Phenomena (Ciafeme) at the Autonomous University of Yucatan (Uady).

This week is predicted to bring extremely high temperatures and intense heat. "This is a very delicate situation that could put people's lives at risk if heat stroke occurs and immediate medical attention isn't sought," the representative warned.

The public is urged to take this situation seriously and to take extreme precautions to protect against the high temperatures and intense heat.
