In a recent session of the State Congress, several decisions were made regarding land donations for various initiatives. These included the Maya Train project, the Judiciary, and the Housing Institute. The Congress also approved reforms to the Education Law, focusing on dual education and English language instruction at all levels.
These initiatives will be put to a vote in the next full session of Congress. The first rulings involved the donation of real estate, proposed by the State Executive and approved by the Budget Commission. Four properties will be given to the majority state-owned company "Tren Maya, S.A. de C.V.". This donation aims to provide the necessary legal certainty for the company to continue with the project. The properties are located in the town of San Antonio Poxilá in the municipality of Umán.
Additionally, three properties were donated to the Judiciary for public service use, specifically for the administration of justice in the state. These properties will be used to establish new courts and expand institutional capacity. Similarly, 28 plots were donated to the State Housing Institute for housing development.
The Education, Science, and Technology Committee approved a draft ruling to reform the Education Law. This reform focuses on dual education, allowing students to gain experience in real company contexts alongside their high school education. This aims to combat youth unemployment due to lack of experience. The changes will integrate dual training into the State Education Law and encourage collaboration between medium-level educational institutions and the productive sector.
Further reforms to the Education Law aim to enhance the quality of education in the state. This includes promoting English language learning, digital education, and subjects related to robotics, computing, and artificial intelligence. The reforms also encourage research and scientific and technological innovation.
