150 Canoeists Converge at Yucatan Marine Regatta 2024

The Yucatan Marine Regatta 2024, held this Saturday on the rowing and canoeing track in Progreso, saw the participation of about 150 canoeists from Yucatan and Quintana Roo. This event marked the beginning of the athletes' preparation for the upcoming Conade Nationals, scheduled for late May and early June at the Cuemanco track in the State of Mexico.

Jorge Esteban Abud, the director of the Institute of Sports (Idey), was present for the opening ceremony. He was joined by Miguel Navarro Ramirez, director of high performance of IDEY; Jaime Anguas Alamilla, president of the Yucatan Canoeing Association; Captain Manuel Alejandro Hernandez, representative of the XII Naval Zone; and Adriana Valderrama Morones, administrator of the rowing and canoeing track in Progreso.

In the K-1 200 meters category for 17 to 18-year-olds, Víctor López Martínez took first place with a time of 34.90 seconds. Josefat Pérez Pérez from Quintana Roo secured second place with 25.46 seconds, while the third place went to Eduardo Alejandro López with 35.74 seconds.

The C-1 thousand meters race for 13-14 year-olds was won by Abraham Abisaí Tapia with a time of 4.52.54 minutes. Paul Pantoja Castillo followed in second place with 5.14.45 minutes, and Alberto Moreno Cab took third place with 5.23.04 minutes. All three are from Yucatan.

In the K-1 thousand meters category for 19 to 23-year-olds, Eva Ventura Rodríguez from Yucatan secured first place with a time of 4.44.16 minutes. She was followed by Griselle Díaz Lagunes with 4.53.35 minutes and Ruselly Leon Encalada with 5.18.61 minutes. Melissa Luna Gonzalez and Maribel Fuentes Gomez from Quintana Roo came in fourth and fifth places, respectively.

In the C-1 thousand meters category for 17 to 23-year-olds, Héctor Gutiérrez Paz from Quintana Roo took the top spot with a time of 4.30.11 minutes. César García Alcalá followed in second place with 4.36.1 minutes, and Guillermo Martínez Rosas took third place with 4.36.34 minutes.
