Julio Bojórquez Hernández, the national president of the Mexican Association of Fair, Exhibition and Convention Promoters (Amprofec), has highlighted Yucatan as one of the top five destinations for event organization in Mexico. Moreover, it's the location experiencing the most robust growth.

Hernández made these remarks during the inauguration of the new president of Amprofec's South Zone, Mireya Camarena Arenas. He noted that the event sector currently contributes 1.5% to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with meetings accounting for 20% of that figure.

"Yucatan is not only one of the most significant event organization destinations in the country, but it's also the fastest-growing," he said. "The excellent work being done here is evident in the conservative figures generated at the national level in other venues."

Hernández also emphasized that the event industry is on a steady path to recovery from the pandemic, nearly reaching pre-Covid-19 levels. "The public's response has been overwhelmingly positive, and the sector is experiencing significant growth," he stated.

He further noted that Mérida, the capital of Yucatan, is playing a crucial role in this growth. This progress is also reflected at the national level, which is critical as those who perform best will be best positioned to capitalize on the recovery.
