Taste Atlas, an online food guide and encyclopedia, recently ranked the world's best sauces. The top spot was awarded to chiltomate, a sauce from Yucatan, Mexico.

Chiltomate is a traditional Yucatecan recipe made from tomatoes, habanero peppers, cilantro, and onion. The sauce is known for its thick consistency, complete with chunky bits, and its unique flavor profile. It boasts a blend of spicy, sweet, and slightly smoky notes. It's recommended to pair this sauce with dishes like papadzules, enchiladas, or motuleño eggs.

The chiltomate sauce earned a rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars, surpassing other renowned sauces such as Chile's chancho en piedra and Peru's creole chili sauce. This recognition not only celebrates the Yucatecan sauce but also shines a spotlight on the diversity and quality of Mexican cuisine on a global scale.
